I am the first to admit that summer styling is not my strongest (perhaps I should have been born an autumn baby) so figuring out the spring/summer trends for 2019 was something I gave a lot of thought to.
After a year living in a permanently hot country I’ve had some time to adjust and learn, make mistakes and try again. I think, this time, I’ve got it, I’ve found my niche, my style, the colour palettes and the vibes I want to portray in my Instagram and on this blog.
I’ve spent countless hours editing the same photos in different ways and in the end I just stripped it back to what I originally loved. So be prepared to see a lot of very simple styling with plenty of basic colour palettes and minimalist vibes with a girly twist And, of course, plenty of swimwear.
One of my favourite parts about summer fashion is the simplicity of styling. This year neutrals are back with a vengeance via the likes of Burberry, Tibi and Dior and this is just one of the easiest styes to pull off. In fact, I’ll be writing about post on just how to wear neutrals for Spring/Summer 2019 shortly so keep your eyes peeled.
Whether it’s summer workwear through beige tapered trousers, tailored perfectly just above the ankle with a light camel coat draped over you shoulders to a loose linen playsuit with large tortoiseshell buttons and a straw Cult Gaia bag.
There are many ways to wear neutrals whatever the season, you can’t beat a classic trench coat for Spring or head to toe camel so whatever way you decide to style this trend, don’t be afraid to go all-out.

Another classic for summer and perfect for pairing with a beach look or all-white ensemble, crochet can elevate even the most minimal outfit.
Louis Vuitton and Philip Lim have this one nailed and it doesn’t just have to be crochet – any texture will do from fishnet to embroidery you can style up these textures in the form of crochet dresses over long T-Shirts or slip a nude liner underneath a full length crochet dress for maximum effect without any embarrassing moments.
Probably the least likely of the trends I’m going to be trying unless it’s my cycling gear but hey, if lime green is your thing then this is your season! Pairing with crochet makes me very reminiscent of past school days with the edgy gothic vibes or biker chic (oh yes, biker shorts are back too!) so you’ve got to be quite brave to pull this one off but there are some great options on the highstreet already – Zara TRF collection has an entire Neon edit and River Island are jumping on this trend early as well.
Similar to last year, the Dolce and Versace vibes are back in spectacular form with more prints and patterns than you can dream of.
Scarf detailing is key to wearing this trend whether that’s in the form of a blouse a a la Versace, through a swimsuit or just, well, as a scarf!
Personally i’m going to ease off on the Cavalli vibes as we’ve got enough animal print in our lives right now.
Bows are in and bigger the better!
For summer I think of cut out detail dresses and tops with bows at the front, headscarves tied into bows in a sleeked back low ponytail and bows on shoes and accessories.
If you want to do ‘pretty’ this summer in amongst all the minimal – this is how you do it!
WHAT TRENDS WILL YOU BE WEARING THIS SPRING SUMMER?
