Summer seems to be fast approaching doesn’t it? What plans have you made this year, any staycations or trips abroad to look forward to?
If last year’s UK weather was anything to go by (I’m told) then this year could be a scorcher so a trip to Cornwall would definitely be on my to-do list if I was back in Blighty.
Vacay dreaming aside, I bet you’re all looking forward to getting summer wardrobe ready, switching over the cashmere for the linens and creating a warmer colour palette. I know I am! In fact, I’ve already started.
Living in Bermuda means I don’t have as much choice of brands as many don’t deliver (although ZARA have JUST started to woopee!) so I’m forced to think outside the box and review other brands out there.
So if you’re looking for some alternative brands that you might not find on the highstreet but offer quality summer clothing then read on and discover these summer brands.
This dress was my first ever order from Saboskirt – thankfully they deliver to Bermuda for only $10! It took about 3 weeks from Australia which is really good going for here so I was super impressed but keen to see what the quality was like.
I ordered an XS in this dress but did so with hesitation. The models on the website generally look quite small so I was hoping it would fit. I have a smaller chest and waist compared to my hips and legs so in dresses I can usually afford to size down and I’m glad I did as the fit is great! Actually a little baggy in the boobage department you could say.
Quality wise I love it and will definitely be ordering from them again. The material is linen so very comfortably for this humid climate too.
Saboskirt top picks
This is definitely not a brand to splurge at every day but certainly one with beautiful one off summer pieces for you to invest in. The simple styles that the brand utilises justify the price point as they will never go out of fashion so you’ll be wearing them summer after summer.
YOU’LL BE WEARING THESE PIECES SUMMER AFTER SUMMER
This brand is always a favourite for many in summer. Definitely festival appropriate with the LA vibes but with pieces smart enough for weddings and other formal occasions.
Best of all, Reformation is a super sustainable brand so, whilst expensive, you know why (sustainability unfortunately doesn’t come cheap!). Again, I’d choose a piece that I know I could wear year in and year out to get a good price per wear.
This french brand seems to have catapulted onto our Instagram feeds over the last year. With the beautiful neutral hues (a key trend for summer), rusty tones and beautiful fabrics, Sezane is another key brand to look at for your summer wardrobe. Again this brand is considered super sustainable so perfect for picking up some key pieces.
You may be noticing a theme here – sustainability. It’s so easy in summer to shop shop shop because clothing is generally cheaper and you’re more likely to wash pieces are every use so you think you need more but actually investing in some key items that are good quality and that you know you can get the wear out of is so much better for the planet. I’m seriously limiting myself at Zara and Asos this year and looking to spend the same but on less for better quality.
I hope you like this little round up, let me know what summer brands you are loving for 2019!
