If you gave me the choice of celebrating only birthdays or Christmas my answer is easy! Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year and it’s going to be even more special this year as we have been living abroad now for 6 months and going home to see my family adds even more excitement into the mix! There’s nothing like the petty arguments with my sister, gin cocktails, grabbing a Red Cup from Starbucks with the darker evenings drawing in and the Christmas lights on in town, powerful debates over whether that answer was good enough in Trivial Pursuit and seeing my friends’ and family’s faces light up upon opening the gifts I’ve thought long and hard about.
Boots is one of my go to places for Christmas gifts, whether it’s luxury beauty, fragrances, electricals, Christmas gifts for him, experiences or cooking ideas, they have it all and so it’s no wonder that every year I browse the catalogue for new ideas. Here are a few of the gift ideas I selected from their Christmas gifts range this year and why I feel like I am giving the perfect gifts this Christmas.
The sister who loves makeup
Let’s start off with my sister. Those of you who have been here a while may know that I am a triplet and one of three girls which means the Christmas gifts for her section is the first place I visit. One of them is identical to me and so she’s probably the easiest person to shop for every year as we are just so alike.
When we were growing up I was obsessed with doing hair (still am), always wanting to practice new techniques on her and in turn she was quite enthralled with makeup up. So when it came to school parties, nights out with friends, dinners with family, I would do our hair and she would do our makeup.
She always says you can never have enough makeup up brushes and so this year I am gifting her this Real Techniques Limited Edition Sleigh all Night set – the perfect addition to her makeup collection regardless of age or experience in doing makeup. Real Techniques was my first makeup set, as was her’s and it’s a brand that you just never grow out of.
Hopefully she’ll use these brushes to do my makeup on Christmas Day!
The skincare queen
When you have a sister who knows her stuff when it comes to skincare it’s hard to choose an appropriate gift that you know she’ll love and actually use.
Ever since we started having girly nights in I can remember using the Origins Charcoal mask without fail – it’s something I haven’t seen her use in a while and so I felt that this gift was a perfect reminder to go back to a product I know she really loves.
Origins is a brand that works on so many skin types and so with a few new products in there for her to try, I felt that this gift set was perfect – it offers a full range from face masks to eye cream and tonics and so it’s great for skincare beginners and old hands alike.
The Mum who likes the classics
I remember not long after getting into Youtube trying out the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish for the first time. I’d heard such good things and remember my Mum always using it – in all honestly I thought it was an ‘older’ brand that wasn’t for me until I actually tried it. Now it’s a staple in my beauty closet as it is my Mum’s and is a product we both share a love for. When I came home once for a visit I was raving about it and I definitely got a fleeting ‘well I did tell you’ (quite rightly) and so this year I am gifting my Mum this beautiful Liz Earle gift set complete with the classic C&P as well as a skin tonic and the Superskin Face Serum. The packaging is so beautiful and hopefully this gives her a chance to try out some different products from a brand she loves.
