Sometimes it can be difficult to stay feminine in winter; with all the layers, baggy jumpers and oversized coats it’s often hard to get that lady-like, sexy feeling in what you wear. We’re so lucky in the UK that our winters don’t really get that cold – I know I know, we moan about the weather a lot us Brits but relatively speaking it isn’t too difficult to wear skirts and dresses, if you know how.
Of course it’s all about finding the right dress and at the moment I seriously love a shift dress, the shape is so flattering and they feel so floaty and sexy (and they go so well with OTK boots and a blazer). I love this star print dress from Warehouse too, so floaty and perfect layered with this chunky jacket.
#1 Wear a chunky jacket
You feel a lot warmer if you keep your main body warm, legs can withstand much lower temperatures so opt for a short jacket that will keep you snug and warm and leave your legs bare! Layering is also really key here, the more the better.
#2 Always wear boots
I actually really couldn’t decide whether to wear OTK boots or ankle boots with this beautiful star print dress at first but decided to go with these cute ankle boots. The thing is, if you wear boots and keep your ankles covered you will feel a lot warmer and a lot less exposed. OTK are great when the mercury falls much lower, especially as you can hide knee high ski socks underneath!
#3 Don’t be afraid of wearing tights
Ah tights. Love them or hate them they are a useful addition to the underwear drawer! I tend to wear a lot of black tights for work and am seeing them more and more crop up on my instagram (especially some with cute patterns). I really love tanned coloured tights when I can’t be bothered to tan either – and guys that’s okay! I really don’t know where the hatred for them comes from, I think they’re genius!
How do you wear dresses in winter? Are you brave enough?
