A new season means a new foundation, something a little darker, glowy and ready for those warmer evening after-work drinks. Basically, something long lasting and not drying please! I’ve been meaning to get a new one for absolutely ages and, whilst I’m really happy with my L’Oreal Infallible Sculpt (it’s the perfect light coverage for the office), it just doesn’t cut the mustard when it comes to filming and only comes in two shades – pale and been on the sun-bed too long.
So as you may be able to guess from these images, I picked up the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation recently but you should know that the decision to buy this was not taken lightly, it was not frivolous but in fact well thought through – since October! So let me talk you through my buying process.
I started my search knowing that I wanted a high-end product. In my experience, if you want something ‘special’ you generally need to go away from drugstore and I did my research (aka watched a shit ton of Youtube vids).
I also knew that I wanted something generally medium-high coverage but it had to have a glowy feel to it – there’s nothing like it in summer! I narrowed it down to three – Clinque’s new Beyond Perfecting (claiming to be a foundations and concealer in one!), Esteè Lauder’s Double Wear (obvs) and then the Armani.
Something I am religious about is sampling – you don’t want to spend £40 on something you don’t know works for you! So I trundle down to the counters and sit for a good 20mins getting it put on my skin then taking away a sample. That sample then gets tried at least three times before a decision is made.
So you can start to see why it’s taken so long to reach the conclusion to buy this foundation and I’m so pleased that I did. That being said, I still may go and pick up Double Wear – it was such a tough choice!
In summary – 1) do your research, 2) talk the product through with a specialist – they will make suggestions to ensure a product works better for your skin or even suggest a different one from the same brand that might be more suited and 3) TEST, TEST, TEST – just ask for sample to take away and don’t feel ashamed to ask – they have those little pots under the counter for a reason!
